NEW CITY HALL BUSINESS HOURS
Beginning Monday, March 1, 2010, the City of Shenandoah Municipal Complex will now be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to provide the public additional time to access City Hall for business.
I-45 Ramp Reversal Project Kicks Off

Work will begin on the I-45 Ramp Reversal Project in Shenandoah on February 15, 2010. The six-month project has an estimated cost of $3.2 million and is divided into two phases:

Phase 1 - Install both entrance ramps
Phase 2 - Install both exit ramps and remove pre-existing ramps

City staff will be closely involved in the relocation of any trees during the course of this project.

Once completed, the new entrance and exit ramps will increase the efficient flow of traffic and provide a greater convenience to Shenandoah residents and businesses.

Shenandoah Resident Scholarship Fund

The Shenandoah Resident Scholarship Fund is open to all high school seniors who live in the City of Shenandoah. The scholarship is privately funded by Darrell and Kay Frazier of Shenandoah, and the total award is $3,000. The winner will be selected by a committee upon completion of an essay. Application packets are available through the counselor's office at CISD high schools. Home school or private school students can contact Darrell Frazier at dfrazier@shenandoahtx.com for information.

Applicants must reside in the City of Shenandoah. Applications and essays must be submitted to city hall no later than March 12, 2010.

Charter Changes Channel Line-up

Charter Communications recently added Fox Sports Plus on channel 300 to their lineup on the Expanded Basic service tier, effective February 9, 2010. This channel requires digital cable for viewing.

Priority Area 2 Reconstruction Bid Awarded
In their regular meeting on January 13, 2010, the Shenandoah City Council voted to award the contract for the Priority Area 2 reconstruction project to the low bidder, SER Construction Partners, LTD. The contract amount is for $5,354,468.90, which represents the base bid and all four alternates. The City has issued a notice to proceed to the contractor effective Monday, January 18, 2010. Affected residents will receive door hangers in the near future indicating important dates and other information related to the construction.

Warrant Roundup!
Beginning Saturday, March 6, 2010 the Shenandoah Police Department, along with the City of Shenandoah Municipal Court, will be participating in a statewide warrant roundup. More than 120 law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Texas will be sending officers out to arrest persons who have failed to pay their fines and/or appear before the court.

To avoid being arrested and placed in the Montgomery County Jail, contact the City of Shenandoah Municipal Court immediately at 281.419.9886 and make arrangements to pay your fine or set a court date to contest your citation.
